2K Injection Molding (Two-Shot Molding)
|
|
|
| Are You Facing These Problems?
Multi-material parts require manual assembly
Poor bonding between materials ? delamination
Inconsistent product quality
Too many production steps ? high cost
Difficult to achieve soft-touch + rigid structure
These are common issues when using traditional manufacturing instead of 2K injection molding
What Is 2K Injection Molding?
2K injection molding (two-shot molding) is a process where two different materials are injected sequentially in one mold to form a single integrated part.
First shot: rigid plastic (ABS, PC, Nylon)
Second shot: soft or functional material (TPE, TPU, etc.)
Key advantages:
Strong bonding between materials
No secondary assembly required
Improved product consistency
Enhanced design flexibility
2K Injection Molding vs Overmolding
Many customers are unsure which process to choose.
Key Difference:
2K Injection Molding: two materials molded in one cycle using a specialized mold
Overmolding: second material mold |
